VPA Names Pianist, Scholar Milton Laufer New Setnor School of Music Director
The College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) has announced that Milton Rubén Laufer, a pianist and scholar and current director of Western Carolina University’s School of Music, has been named director of the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, effective July 1.

When flutist Grace Lesselroth was in eighth grade, her dream was to perform in Carnegie Hall. Last Friday, alongside 29 other Syracuse University students, that dream came true.
“The smile just would not leave my face,” Lesselroth said. “I started to tear up a little bit and had to calm myself down because I just felt very in awe and very much shell-shocked about the fact that I made it.”
Syracuse University Wind Ensemble to Release Album in Remembrance of Pan Am Flight 103
Unveiling two world premiere recordings, the Syracuse University Wind Ensemble will release an album, “Angels Rising: Music of Remembrance and Light,” on Friday, Aug. 16, dedicated to the 270 lives lost in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, on Dec. 21, 1988.
